November 16, 2010 – The six state officers of California DECA recently returned from a trip to the nation’s capitol – Washington D.C. The officers attended the Ultimate DECA Power Trip with nearly 2,500 state officers and members from across the nation. With inspiring speakers, concentrated leadership itineraries, and a special Epic Start-Up Experience on the National Mall, California’s state officers saw DECA’s power at its best.
California DECA extended its stay in Washington D.C. so the state officers could head to Capitol Hill and meet with congressional leaders, advocate for DECA and Career and Technical Education, and see government in action. The officers met with the following staff members of California’s Congressional Delegation:
Ms. Liz Miller, Legislative Correspondent, Office of the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi
Ms. Christine Epres, Legislative Assistant, Office of Senator Dianne Feinstein
Mr. Gideon Bragin, M.P.P., Office of Congressman Michael Honda
Ms. Teresa Frison, Legislative Assistant, Office of Congressman Jerry McNerney
Mr. Blake Hulnick, Legislative Assistant, Office of Congresswoman Anna Eshoo
Mr. Joe Kasper, Communications Director, Office of Congressman Duncan Hunter
Mr. Gary Kline, Senior Policy Advisor, Office of Congressman Brian Bilbray
Mr. Christos Tsentas, Legislative Director, Office of Congresswoman Barbara Lee
The state officers were excited to have the opportunity to meet with Congressman Duncan Hunter in his office and share with him about DECA. California DECA thanks all of California’s Congressional Delegation for its support of DECA and Career and Technical Education.
