State Officers Attend 2011 Western Region Officer Training Camp

Author:

Phoenix, Arizona – California DECA State Officers arrived at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel on July 5th for the Western Region Officer Training Camp (WROTC). There, they met up with approximately 110 other State, Provincial, and Local officers for the three day leadership training program from July 6th to the 8th. The training program developed their leadership abilities, increased their knowledge about DECA, and taught them the skills they need to for their year(s) in office. The team also got a chance to bond with the other officers at Wet ‘n Wild, expanding their networks.
The first night included a special clue-based teambuilding experience that challenged the officers to think outside the box, use critical thinking skills and deductive reasoning, and to rely on their team through the use of effective communication. The next two days focused on skills needed to be a successful state officer, including understanding the DECA brand and facilitation training.
The officers enjoyed meeting and reconnecting with other DECA leaders and are looking forward to hosting the Western Region Leadership Conference (WRLC) in San Diego, California, this November.
The California DECA attendees included:

  • Shruti Thundiyil, State President
  • Priyanka Saha, Vice President  of Northern District
  • Geena Dai, Vice President of Southern  District
  • Sri Muppidi, Vice President of  Civic Consciousness
  • Jose Romero, Vice President of  Chapter Development
  • Siyang Qiu, Vice President of  Public Relations
