Salt Lake City, UT—California DECA received first place in DECA Inc.’s Extreme Makeover: Website Edition contest. Announced during the recent State Association Management Conference in Salt Lake City, the challenge was for state associations to integrate the DECA branding as well as useful navigation and information. With DECA’s new logo and branding campaign, the Extreme Makeover competition challenged states to use its website as a marketing and promotional tool. California won top honors among the 25 largest state association web sites.
California DECA’s website underwent a redesign in the last year to align with the DECA’s new branding as well as California DECA’s marketing campaign, FACE THE FUTURE. The site also integrates more social media and new features to enhance the usability of the site. California DECA was fortunate to receive and use SB70 grant funding from the California Department of Education to in the website’s redesign. The site now serves as a marketing and promotional tool to build more emerging leaders and entrepreneurs through California DECA.
States web sites were reviewed in August by branding experts, national staff, and state association leaders. The top three finalists in the three categories –college, large state and small states—were then to give a five minute presentation at the State Association Management Conference. All of the state advisors then voted on their favorite websites. California was thankful to make the finals and thrilled when they were announced as the top web site out of the 25 largest states!
California DECA members and advisors can get excited because as the top web site, the state association receives a special treat. The California delegation to the 2012 International Career Development Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah in April will get to enjoy a complimentary lounge in the conference center. This lounge will be for the exclusive use of California DECA – giving California members a place to meet, network, and celebrate the achievements of the organization.
