Let’s get down to business. DECA is an organization devoted to teaching high school and college students around the world all about the marketing world. The organization is helping Alameda High School (AHS) students emerge to become leaders and entrepreneurs. DECA prepares these students in marketing, finance, hospitality and management, and creates the business leaders of tomorrow by encouraging them to aspire higher.
DECA’s competitive events program allows student members to participate in competitions that apply learning, connect to business and promote competitive skills. These events make students academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible and experienced as leaders for college and future careers.
The week of Oct. 9 to 15 was national DECA week. AHS, however, celebrated DECA week from Oct. 31 to Nov. 4. AHS DECA members promoted their business club through events within the school with the help of AHS’s DECA advisor and marketing teacher, JoAna Sydow.
From giving Halloween goodie bags to hard-working teachers on Monday to helping members learn how to professionally put on a tie on Tie-a-Tie Tuesday, DECA let everyone at AHS know more about what they do.
