There is no doubt that the 2012-2013 year has been a record-breaking time for California DECA. We’ve hit milestones and found great success in all areas of DECA. How did YOU thrive this past year? Let’s take a look at some of California DECA’s amazing accomplishments.
- For the first time in California DECA’s history, membership reached an astonishing 4,500 members. With an increase of over 1,000 members from last year, California DECA was able to secure a 4th spot at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC). This increase allowed us to send our Top 4 written event competitors to ICDC.
- California found great success in DECA’s newest chapter campaigns. Eighteen California DECA chapters achieved THRIVE Level recognition via participation in DECA’s Membership Campaign, Promotional Campaign, Community Service Campaign, and/or Global Entrepreneurship Week Campaign. California DECA had the most TRIVE Level chapters out of all DECA associations.
- California hosted over 16,000 members from across the globe for DECA’s 2013 ICDC in Anaheim, CA. In addition, former VP of Southern California Zahra Hadi represented California DECA as a candidate National DECA President. Current VP of Southern California, Margarita Oreta, took center stage in front of all of DECA as a Live@THRIVE Social Media correspondent.
- Once again, California excelled on the international stage. We had an outstanding 14 Top 3 Wins and had 43 Top 10 Finishers. With such great success, we held onto our ranking as one of the Top 3 DECA Associations in the World competitively.
Congratulations to all on such an impressive year! Every single California DECA member and supporter played an integral role in ensuring our success. California DECA has exciting plans for the next year to keep our association growing.
