Your state officers had their May meeting from the 15th to the 17th in Sacramento.
On Friday morning, the state officers met with the staff of 6 legislators from various districts to discuss DECA and CTEs. They had a lot of fun discussing with the staff members future funding for CTEs and how it can impact student learning.
On Friday afternoon, the state officers had dinner with the California DECA Board of Directors. After that, the state officers got down to business and began outlining their Strategic Communications Plan (SCP), formerly known as the Program of Work.
On Saturday morning, the officer team presented their ideas for the SCP to the Board of Directors, and also gave them an overview of the other activity that they did. They got a lot of good feedback from the Board, and during the afternoon, the team worked hard to hammer out the SCP. They got a large portion of the SCP done before the end of the May Meeting.
The state officers had a lot of fun meeting legislators, talking to the California DECA board of directors, and planning out the SCP. They can’t wait for the upcoming year!
