From February 6 to February 9, the Anaheim Marriot held the State Career Development Conference. The State Career Development Conference was kicked off with our grand opening ceremony, and followed by competitive events the next day. Workshops were also held for DECA members to enhance their experience and meet new people. The campaign booths were open in the leadership village for members to meet the State Officer nominees. Members also traveled to Downtown Disney and Disneyland for a day of fun!
Winners for the top placing members in role play and tests were revealed at the General Session. Furthermore, the 2013-2014 State Officers gave their farewell, and introduced the 2014-2015 State Officers. Margarita Oreta announced her campaign for National Office as the Western Region Vice President. The night ended with DECA dance and photo room where members took pictures of their DECA experience. The conference ended with the closing ceremony where the finalists for the International Career Development Conference were announced.
Overall the State Career Development Conference was a great success! Members bonded with DECA chapters all over California and made memories that will last a lifetime! This opportunity motivated California DECA members to make this DECA year count as we head to the International Career Development Conference!
Following the State Career Development Conference, the 2014-2015 State Officers gathered in Irvine California from March 6-8 for our orientation meeting, and are ready to work hard to make you proud.
At this meeting, Team 64 created projects and prepped for ICDC. Along with preparing for this upcoming year, Team 64 also had an opportunity for team building activities to get to know one another. California DECA’s Twitter tweets, Facebook posts, and Instagram pictures were also planned at this meeting. Team 64 also worked on filming a promotional video for ICDC, and an additional video to get to know your State Officers.
