January 16, 2015—Costa Mesa, Calif.—With more than 1,700 global entries in the 2014 DECA Idea Challenge, California DECA is honored to recognize one of the eight Global Finalists as our own. A total of six teams were named finalists in the high school/collegiate category, and two teams were named finalists in the middle school category. One finalist team in the middle school category is “AA & E,” comprised of Ajay Madala, Andrew Chavez, and Ethan Choi from the Harker School.
As a part of the annual DECA IDEA Challenge held during Global Entrepreneurship Week, students find an innovative, practical use to an everyday object and then pitch their invention in a 3-minute video presentation. In the 2014 edition, the item was newspaper.
AA & E used ordinary newspaper and created a pencil pouch for everyday use. In their video (for link, please see below), they interviewed their fellow students on the practicality and sustainability of such a product.
The DECA Idea Challenge will name its global winners in the next week. Winning teams will receive a cash prize of $1,000, and U.S. winning teams will also be recognized at the International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida.
Congratulations to AA & E and their advisor, Juston E. Glass, for this amazing feat!
