California DECA 2014-2015 Scholarship Recipients Anounced


Costa Mesa, California.–March 25, 2015— DECA Inc. announced the 2014-2015 scholarship recipients on March 23rd, 2015. Over one hundred exceptional DECA members were awarded with scholarships this year, and California DECA is honored to recognize five of those beneficiaries as our own.
Each year, DECA Inc. and its corporate partners award over $300,000 in scholarships to outstanding DECA members across the country. The recipients who attend the 2015 International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida, will receive recognition on stage.
The Hilton Worldwide scholarship was awarded to Jacinta Chang (Mission San Jose DECA) and Shivani Komma (Monta Vista DECA), both of who are dedicated members of this organization.
“I am honored to be chosen as a 2015 Hilton Worldwide Scholarship recipient! DECA has been an incredible part of my high school experience and I can thank my supportive chapter for that,” exclaimed Komma after she learned she had won her scholarship.
Greg Chi of Irvington DECA was the sole member of California DECA to receive the Journeys scholarship this year, for his exceptional work and passion for DECA over his high school career.
President of the Mission San Jose DECA chapter, Sanaea Kakalia was the recipient of the NAPA scholarship this year. Kakalia expressed her gratitude after receiving the award.
“DECA Truly opens limitless doors. Without the organization, I would have never discovered my love for marketing services in the automotive industry. I am honored to have received this scholarship from NAPA and will definitely stay active in DECA as an alum!” said Kakalia.
The annual Walgreen Scholarship was awarded to Jihyeon (Janel) Lee of Amador Valley DECA, who has placed top three at the International Career Development Conference two years in a row.
