The 2015 Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) Challenge had fierce competition this year from all around the world. With hundreds of global entries, California DECA is proud to recognize the first place winning team of this challenge as our own. A total of eleven teams were named finalists internationally. The winning team, “Pioneer Bohomenian,” is comprised of Kyley Lockwood, Erica Gorman and Rita Sorokina from Castro Valley DECA.
As a part of the annual FIDM Challenge, participants were given the task to translate a seasonal fashion trend into a “look” depicting their researched fashion forecasts and to create a presentation for FIDM executives and instructors via videos posted on YouTube.
The team focused on the Pioneer Bohemian fashion, influenced by events such as the 1980’s Western Revival. In their video (for link, please see below), they described their business plan and modeled a few of their various outfits.
Pioneer Bohomenian will be awarded with a travel stipend to attend DECA’s 2015 International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida this April, along with receiving on-stage recognition.
Congratulations to Pioneer Bohomenian and their advisor, Michelle Stephens, for this incredible feat!
