DECA Inc.’s 2017 International Career Development Conference was held in our home state of California, in the beautiful city of Anaheim from April 26-29.
As the culmination of the 2016-2017 competitive season, over 19,000 DECA members traveled from various states, countries, and provinces to meet and compete with the best of the best.
With a delegation of nearly 500 students, some California DECA members competed in written and role-play events, while others attended the THRIVE, ASPIRE, ELEVATE, and EMPOWER leadership academies.
Additionally, the California DECA state officer team, along with two state officer alumni, served as voting delegates and helped elect the 2017-2018 DECA Inc. Executive Officer Team.

It was a week filled with a great deal of learning, growth, and excitement as delegates celebrated a successful year with this final conference. Amidst pin trading and networking with DECA members from across the world, attendees also had the unique opportunity to stay at the Disneyland Hotel and explore Downtown Disney, the Disneyland Park, and the California Adventure Park during their time at ICDC.
Competing on the international level, California DECA’s competitors saw a great deal of success, with 74 Top 20 finalists being announced during the Achievement Awards Session on the final day of the conference. A special congratulations to the 14 teams and individuals that placed Top 3 in the world. CA DECA brought home 1st Place glass in 6 different competitive events, marking an incredible end to yet another successful DECA season.
