California DECA June Newsletter
Message From the President
With the DECA school year over, June was a time for the officer team to step back and evaluate the year so far. Despite hectic schedules, the team worked to further flesh out plans for the coming year, including a chapter handbook and improved competition materials. In the coming month of July, the team is attending the Emerging Leader Summit, where they will receive valuable leadership training as well as opportunities to advocate for DECA at the national level.

Mission San Jose DECA Celebrates a Year of Success
As the 2016-2017 school year drew to a close, Mission San Jose DECA members celebrated yet another season of competitive excellence, friendships, and unforgettable memories.
“DECA is an experience that not only brings out your competitive side but also teaches you important life skills, including public speaking and time management. It makes you form bonds that turn into amazing relationships when you network with other amazing DECA students,” said Jack Wang, a rising junior and two-year DECA member.
Amidst the rejoicing, Mission San Jose DECA was also quick to get a head-start for the upcoming year. After the new officer team was selected, the chapter held a briefing in which the old team met with the new officers to discuss the responsibilities of chapter office and map out the 2017-2018 school year.
“MSJ DECA gives you a family away from home and makes you become self-dependent through this incredible journey. The MSJ DECA officer team helps out in any way they can and teach us to be dedicated and hardworking throughout the program,” said Mission San Jose DECA’s new chapter president, Emily Zhang.
All in all, Mission San Jose DECA is extremely proud of all of its members and accomplishments this year and awaits future developments with bated breath.
