The opportunity to run for state office is one of a lifetime. As potential officers begin their candidacies for state office, we wanted to reflect on the reasons Team 67 chose to serve California DECA. Below is a response given by Jasmine Tong-Seely, Vice President of Communications.
Through my first two years in DECA, I quickly developed a strong passion for and belief in this organization and everything it works to achieve. I recognized that I had been provided life-changing opportunities through DECA, and was inspired by the many DECA students that came before me to strive for success within our CTSO.
Through realizing how much I had personally changed through my involvement in DECA, I felt a sense of responsibility to extend these opportunities to more students; to expose more high schoolers to DECA and change more lives. I chose to run for state office because I wanted to work towards these goals and contribute to the positive growth and outreach efforts of California DECA, and I’m extremely grateful for the platform that this position has provided me with to do exactly that.
