Team 73 Attends Capitol Leadership Retreat

Author: California DECA

This past May, Team 73 was delighted to have the opportunity to attend the Capitol Leadership Retreat in Sacramento! Our officers got to meet members and state officers from 5 of the other CTSOs in California. The conference was filled with workshops, which covered topics ranging from the legislative process in California to etiquette training! On Capitol Day, Team 73 toured the Capitol building, spent time learning from lobbyists, and met their district legislators and senators! The 2023 Capitol Leadership Experience was truly a unique and memorable experience.

Here are some of Team 73’s favorite memories from this retreat.

Leo: “I loved getting the chance to meet Senator Glazer and reminding him about Business  Career Technical Education alongside the other officers from NorCal. It was also cool to see bills get passed to the senate in real life!”

Diya: “I loved getting to see our assembly members in action on Monday! It was so cool to hear the members state their point of view and watch as bills got approved or denied!”

Samaira: “My favorite memory from CLE was getting to speak with legislators about the benefits of business career technical education courses. Getting to watch the senate in action was also a highlight of the trip!”

Ruijia: “I enjoyed touring the State Capitol because we could see how it operated on a daily basis; the historical significance of the rooms and halls interested me.”

Emily: “I loved the opportunity to hear from panelists of government officials, allowing me to gain insight on how our government actually works! My favorite moment was watching the California senate vote on the numerous bills while I was sitting in the same room.”

SJ: “My favorite memory from CLE was meeting people from other CTSOs. I got to learn so much about the different business career technical education courses :). Being able to see all the bills pass in person was very cool too!”
