The Power of Being the One: How CA DECA members took the spotlight

Author: California DECA

From April 26-30, over 26,000 competitors from around the globe gathered in Orlando, Florida, for the 2025 International Career Development Conference, including hundreds of California DECA members and advisors. In total, California DECA had a delegation of 659 representatives competing across 45 competitive and online events, proudly representing our association.

On the international stage, California DECA had incredible results. We had an astounding 87 individuals in the top 20, 51 individuals in the top 10, and 13 individuals who brought home glass – a reflection of the hard work and dedication that our members practiced. To all of these members: Congratulations on your outstanding achievements! You have made California DECA proud and demonstrated the highest level of excellence in your events. We are so proud and cannot wait for continued success or even better results at next year’s ICDC!

But even beyond the awards and recognition, ICDC was an absolutely unforgettable week. Attendees had the opportunity to connect with association members from around the world, visit interactive booths to meet corporate sponsors and partners, and even attend Universal Studios DECA Night. Whether it was pin trading, networking, or cheering our members on the stage, the energy and sense of community made this conference truly special.

We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made ICDC such a memorable experience. From the members participating in California DECA’s ICDC social media challenges to our voting delegates who helped elect our 2025-26 Western Region Vice President and Executive President, this week would not have been the same without your support and engagement. Special thanks to the incredible advisors and judges who attended ICDC – your time, support, and guidance made this conference possible, and we are so grateful for all you do.

Ultimately, ICDC is more than just a competition—it’s a valuable opportunity to recognize your growth and success and join a community of like-minded individuals who share the same passion and drive. Whether you walked across the stage or supported your chapter from the crowd, remember that even qualifying for ICDC places you amongst the best, and that in itself is an incredible achievement.

As we close out the 2024-25 DECA year and look ahead, take what you have learned this year and use it to continue growing, not only in DECA but in your future professional and personal lives as well. For those returning to DECA next year, let this experience fuel your drive to “Go The Extra” – bring all the energy, connection, and momentum from this week into everything you do next year.

On behalf of California DECA, thank you for making ICDC 2025 unforgettable. Your dedication, enthusiasm, and accomplishments have truly embodied what it means to “Be The One.” We cannot wait to see how you continue to succeed, lead, and excel in the coming year.
