California State Officers Advocate for State Funding

Author:

Roshan Rama, California DECA’s Vice President of Public Relations, had
the privilege of speaking with a representative from the office of Assemblymember Joan
Buchanan in efforts to advocate for support of DECA and Career Technical Student Organizations.
California DECA was notified in late June that the AB8 funding will not be renewed in 2013. While California DECA will continue to thrive in the coming year, government funding is critical and Roshan
had the chance to emphasize this to the Assemblymember’s San Ramon
office. Roshan also touched on the importance of DECA and its unique
ability to provide California students with a cocurricular education
that enriches and enhances classroom learning. “Representing our State
Association and advocating for support for CTSO’s was a success, I’m
hopeful that our funding will be reinstated” said Rama when asked
about the meeting.
