Advocacy Campaign Tips – Reaching out to Your Senators

Author:

Looking for a way to reach out to a public policy maker for your Advocacy Month Campaign? An easy way to do this is to write to a local State Senator to get your chapter, your members, and DECA recognized. In an email, explain what DECA is, and a recent event your chapter has hosted or an accolade that someone in your chapter has earned. By doing this, you can not only ask for a certificate of recognition from a California State Senate member, but also advocate for DECA and what it has done for you and your community.  To find your local state senator, put in your address at http://findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov/.  To take it a step further, call in to set up a meeting with that Senator or their office to advocate, dressed in your DECA professional attire!
