California DECA Integrates Into Common Core Education

Author:

Ontario, California–November 20-21, 2013–California DECA was represented at the 24th annual CTE Fall Conference.  This conference promoted the role CTE (Career and Technical Education) plays and will continue to play in Common Core Education. California DECA’s state officers hosted a booth in the exhibitor’s hall and showcased how DECA applies learning, promotes employable skills, and develops experienced leaders. Educators and administrators from across California stopped by California DECA’s booth to learn more about DECA and how it can enhance learning in high schools.
Carl Schmidt, chapter advisor at Monta Vista DECA, was also present at this conference. Monta Vista DECA is California DECA’s largest chapter and Mr. Schmidt presented a workshop on the techniques and practices used to effectively manage a chapter, like Monta Vista DECA, that has over 500 members.
